Pharos Designer 2 Installation

The Pausch Bridge lighting system uses a Pharos LPC X controller to run the lights in real time, day in and day out. Shows are programmed and uploaded to the controller using Pharos Designer 2, a freely downloadable application available for macOS or Windows.

Whatever approach you take, this software will be needed for showing your project on the bridge hardware. Some projects for the class may use this software directly as a design tool and composition tool. Projects which develop their own software will render their output into a compatible video format which will then be imported into a timeline in a Pharos show. Either way, it is important to install this software and become familiar with basic operation so you can test and preview your projects before going to the bridge itself.

Installation Notes

You must use the version of Pharos Designer 2 which matches the current bridge firmware version or your show will not run. Pharos updates its software from time to time but we only update the bridge firmware intermittently.

The current version in use is kept in the following Google Drive folder accessible to the CMU community:

The binaries were previously downloaded from the Pharos company site under Pharos Designer 2.
