Lab Inventory: 6 mm Shaft Components¶
The following tables may help you identify commonly used parts we have available in the lab supply. For a searchable index of all lab parts, please see Physical Computing Lab Inventory.
Shafts are steel rods typically used to convey torque, provide an axle freedom, or as a linear bearing guide. High-quality shafts have accurate dimension, roundness, and straightness as well as a polished and sometimes hardened surface.
For most applications we recommend using low-precision clevis pins as axles, using linkages or pulleys to transmit torque, and avoiding linear slides. However, we stock the following metric 6 mm shafts and related components for when a shaft is the best solution.
