Lab Inventory: Actuators¶
The following tables may help you identify commonly used parts we have available in the lab supply.
For a searchable index of all lab parts, please see Physical Computing Lab Inventory.
Hobby Servos¶
Small hobby servo. Lab Part 1896.
LKY62 medium hobby servo, metal output spline. Lab Part 1899.
Gearmotors¶
Lab Part 1931, brushed DC gear motor, 6V, shaft is 4 mm diameter x 25mm length, no load 130rpm drawing 100mA, 1kg*cm load 100pm drawing 0.45A, stall at 3.6kg*cm drawing 1.8A. We have purchased slightly different variations of this motor. Some have a pair of M3 threaded mounting holes spaced 17 mm apart, some spaced 15 mm apart. The boss is 7 mm diameter.
Shaft Hubs¶
Metal hubs are the only practical way to mount a load on the small gearmotors with 4 mm shafts; wooden or plastic parts will quickly deform and lose connection. Please never use glue on motor shafts.
Generic flange shaft coupler (no Lab Part number yet). Available with a 4 mm bore for the 25 mm gearmotors or a 5 mm bore for the NEMA 17 stepper motors. Mounting holes are nominally 3 mm on a 16 mm diameter circle.
These Pololu parts are being phased out due to rising price, but some are still in the lab. Lab Part 6049, hub, for 4mm shaft, with M3 tapped holes, 2-pack. More details: Pololu 1997 Motor Hub Drawing. These fit the 25 mm gearmotors with 4 mm shafts.
The Pololu 1998 hub for 5 mm shafts is Lab Part 1881. These fit the NEMA17 stepper motors with 5 mm shafts. More details: Pololu 1998 Motor Hub Drawing
Stepper Motors¶
Lab Part 1908, stepper motor, NEMA17, for 3D Printer, 76 oz-in, 1.5A/phase, 5mm shaft with flat, 750mm leads with 4-pin wire header.
