For this assignment I considered how I could achieve an interesting transformation of the fabric through shirring or gathering. Initially I attempted to produce the effect that we learned in class with the double string around the entire perimeter of the fabric square. However, when I rigged the capstan bench and attempted to manipulate the string at each corner to create a bunching effect the results were underwhelming. So, I decided instead of manipulating the corners independently I would only use the strings in the corners to un-bunch the fabric and I would use a new string sewed into the center to cause the fabric to close into a bunched volume. When this new string was pulled down and all the corner strings were held static I was able to get the motion I was looking for.
