I started this assignment by looking up different pleating techniques and designs. There was one design that caught my eye and fueled my inspiration for this assignment. In the middle of making pleats, I realized that what I wanted to make was a little harder to do as a human because I wanted 3/16″ pleats (which are too tiny to make while taming the fabric at the same time) running vertically with 1 1/4″ pleats running horizontally to give the fabric more depth and the ability to change into drastic forms. Since that didn’t work out, I decided to incorporate another piece with different fabrics which were sewn together with different pleat directions.

For the rigging portion, I decided to combine these two pieces together by sticking one inside the other. The vision I had was for the inner piece to gradually move out of the outer piece along a slow rising tempo which was done with the help of exercise 1, which already had some sort of code to it.

I started out the movement with a opposite motions in slow slow increments before I gradually built up the pace and. In the video, you could see that motions were constantly going back and forth until the pieces moved faster and with a more drastic movement.
