When we think about the body, we can think about the space that it is in. We often think of space as something we visually see, something 3D. Essentially space is a social construct, something we have defined to be true. But when communication and technology are introduced, we then have Cyberspace. The body then becomes virtual and we socialize online. This can be defined as telepresence as we are acting in a virtual format but our actions can have physical impact.

Therefore, artists may use telepresence to communicate, control, or even manipulate “space”. We may just be able to leave what our physical space is and rematerialize through technology to manipulate a different space, away from our own. It seems like a complicated concept but it purely is about how we can use tech to transform the body across the world. We can have people interact who would not be physically close in the first place.
