Disco ball reacts to snaps, music, knocks, and taps

I used the Bluefruit’s sound sensor to create a responsive small being that interacts with ambient noise. I placed this device in my bedroom for a day to see how it reacted to the sounds of my every day life. When the environmental sounds were loud, the device would spin faster. When the sounds were quiet, the device would spin very slowly.

I used a piece of thread and a paperclip to dangle this disco ball of fabric. As it turns, its swings energetically and wobbles to a slow rest. It was fun to see how it would move in response to my footsteps, music, etc. The swinging of the disco ball reminded my of a pet’s tail or a security camera swiveling around to spot the source of the sound.
