We each worked on different mold designs that could be useful in mimicking open and close movements. My inspiration for my part came from the <a href=\"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1145\/3430524.3442457\">Therms-Up! paper<\/a> I found a while ago where the researchers used a 3D printer to weld plastic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I looked at how different cavity sizes would produce different movement when pneumatically activated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"786\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/16-480\/s2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide-4_3-1-1024x786.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4426\" srcset=\"https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/16-480\/s2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide-4_3-1-1024x786.png 1024w, https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/16-480\/s2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide-4_3-1-300x230.png 300w, https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/16-480\/s2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide-4_3-1-768x589.png 768w, https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/16-480\/s2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide-4_3-1-1140x875.png 1140w, https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/16-480\/s2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Slide-4_3-1.png 1394w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Part Design (3inx2inx0.2in)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally, the different sized cavities would cause the leaf to curl up when filled with air or water, which would mimick a leaf wilting.
