How it works:
A lathe is a rotational cutting, drilling, glassworking, and knurling device that is often used to cut into materials such as metals and wood. It causes the workpiece to be held and rotated by the lathe while a tool bit is advanced into the work
When to use it:
Some of the most common products of the lathe machine are crankshafts, camshafts, table legs, bowls, and candlestick holders, screws, furniture, lamps, tool handles — basically anything round.
Limitations:
Most lathes can fit stock up to 8 inches in diameter and up to 42 inches in length. And regardless of the material or stock used, only radially symmetrical parts can be produced
