I thought this was a neat idea, conveying emotions of loneliness and happiness through a kinetic art form. It was interesting to see the use of something simple, like a single servo be used in a artistic fashion with meaning. However, I think you could further improve the project with the addition of a better crafted body for the “lonely boi”, by incorporating rapid prototyping techniques such as laser cutting.

Straight up the best concept. It was hilarious to interact with and watch. Really brought out simple emotion very effectively. The one thing I also like about this project that it used bare minimum servo action to bring out emotion. While some other projects had achieved the same using a bunch of different components, some not even taught in class, I really appreciate that you used what we learnt in class and made something so good.

I’d suggest making lonely boi some dancing feet, so that when his friend (detected by proximity sensor, comes by), he starts dancing on his feet!

I think your project is really clever and fun, the motion is very expressive, and it is a lot of fun watching the little human be happy after the button push. May be the next stage of the project can be the human also blinks? Or maybe change the input into a potentiometer or a ultrasound detector, where different analog input can make the boi to express different expression? Like if something is getting closer it would turn from sad to neutral and blinking as if he is trying to see what is going on, and when it gets really close, he will wave and smile.

I thought this was such a cute idea and fun to play with in person. The motion of the mouth and hand coordinated really well and the emotion came across clearly. In another iteration I wonder if you could use something like a distance sensor as input rather than buttons? For example the boy gets lonely when people are farther away and happy when people move closer.
