Project Title: High Speed Flash Photography

Project Creators: Thomas Burg and Johannes Gottwald

Short description: An Arduino enthusiast and a photographer decided to use an arduino to control a dropping system and flash so that images of objects dropping into water could be set up and taken systematically and quickly.

Response: As a photographer, I find different methods of achieving shots and creative setups/use of the environment in conjunction with camera settings fascinating. I think the concept of this project is neat, but the actual photography aspect could use improving. Some of the images they had were out of focus and perhaps having the Arduino timing the shutter and flash exactly, as well as controlling the object drop so that it lands in about the same plane of focus. Even with its flaws, this project presents an interesting basis for taking photos of this particular type.
