Each sculpture arises through a negotiation between virtual and physical parameters, articulated by the CAD model, 3D printer settings, and natural forces in the physical world.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Filament Sculptures\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/85913081?h=a476a02933&amp;dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Robot arms present a wide variety of opportunities. Here is an animation loop by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hicetnunc.xyz\/huwmessie\/creations\">Huw Messie<\/a>, who graduated last year from the School of Art&#8217;s BFA program. The STUDIO has created a Processing library to help make this possible, called <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/CreativeInquiry\/PEmbroider\">PEmbroider<\/a>. David has also developed a kit for a DIY embroidery unit, <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/DavidBPerry\/Embroidotron\">the Embroidotron<\/a>, that works with any sewing machine.
