{"id":1518,"date":"2022-10-13T12:55:33","date_gmt":"2022-10-13T16:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/60-461\/f2022\/?p=1518"},"modified":"2022-10-13T13:20:29","modified_gmt":"2022-10-13T17:20:29","slug":"marimonda-personintimeproposal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/courses.ideate.cmu.edu\/60-461\/f2022\/marimonda\/10\/13\/marimonda-personintimeproposal\/","title":{"rendered":"marimonda &#8211; PersonInTimeProposal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For this project, I am interested in exploring human movement and interactions by programming a UR5 to mimic\/mirror a person.<\/p>\n<p>This is a UR5 Robot:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"n3VNCb KAlRDb\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/1750\/5061\/products\/ur5_512x.png?v=1541621897\" alt=\"UR5 Robot Arm Manipulator by Universal Robots - Clearpath \u2014 Clearpath Robotics\" data-noaft=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>(Very cute right?)<\/p>\n<p>I am interested in exploring this for two reasons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>I think the performance is inherently a timed experience, exploring the interaction between a human and a robot through mimicry is an interesting approach to the idea of &#8220;A Person In Time&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>I want to learn how to work well with the UR5 and explore the ways in which a human can perform\/otherwise collaborate with a robot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Functionally, the UR5 will detect a person&#8217;s face using a wide lens camera and center its field of view to the person&#8217;s head, attempting to move as close as possible to them. So that if the person moves down, or to the side, the robot looks at them as they move, with it&#8217;s joint paralleling the human&#8217;s motion.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For this project, I am interested in exploring human movement and interactions by programming a UR5 to mimic\/mirror a person.
