3. Make a quilted letter. All steps for making the quilt sample are in the video Quilt Sample: Letter Q; work alongside me.
Choose any letter from letter block pdf (L, I, T must be combined with another letter since they are too simple). Patterned precut strips of fabric, printed pdf, and muslin are available in the Sewing Lab. Binding of the quilt (the finishing of the edges) will be covered later. Use 1/4″ seam allowance with the cut dimensions outlines in the letter block pdf.
Students’ goal is to complete what is possible in this order: 1. piece together the patchwork/piecework top with the letter and border, 2. create a quilt sandwich with quilting stitches using batting, 3. trim the quilt’s edges.
4. Pin an image of what you accomplished today with your samples before leaving the classroom!
5. AS ALWAYS, PLEASE TURN OFF THE IRONS BEFORE LEAVING THE SEWING LAB.

email submission due: FINAL proposal for Banners and Quilts: Who Am I? What Matters. Submit finalized drawings of your design. Identify techniques and color palette. Put together a list of tools and fabrics needed to complete the assignment. Make a plan of action for all the steps with a details goals schedule.
