Work through the steps in this order:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"margin: 0; padding-left: 18px;\">\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>Watch the assigned videos.<\/strong>\n<p style=\"font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.6; margin: 8px 0 4px 0;\"><strong>Patternmaking + Design: Creative Darts &amp; Seam Lines<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding-left: 18px;\">\n<li>The Basics of Dart Manipulation (37:02)<\/li>\n<li>Dart Variations (34:13)<\/li>\n<li>Dart Wrap Up (28:32)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-size: 15px; line-height: 1.6; margin: 0 0 4px 0;\"><strong>Designing Your Wardrobe: Drafting Tops<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin: 0; padding-left: 18px;\">\n<li>Sleeveless Shell (29:54)<\/li>\n<li>Closures, Edge Finishes and Pattern Standards (28:28)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>Draft the front.<\/strong> Use your slopers to draft a Sleeveless Shell working pattern. Use a dart manipulation of your choice, and follow the video&#8217;s suggestions for the neckline and shoulder.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>Draft the back.<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"margin: 8px 0 0 0; padding-left: 18px;\">\n<li>Draft a V-shaped opening large enough for your head to pass through (at least 24&#8243;).<\/li>\n<li>Include a shoulder dart and back contouring, but no waist dart.<\/li>\n<li>If you like, close the V opening with a loop and button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>Make a toile\/muslin<\/strong> to confirm proportions and fit. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=COTZFsHlHoA\">Why make a toile\/muslin?<\/a>\n<ol style=\"margin: 8px 0 0 0; padding-left: 18px;\">\n<li>Add a 1\/4&#8243; seam allowance around the neck and a 1\/2&#8243; seam allowance everywhere else.<\/li>\n<li>Cut the toile from muslin, washed or unwashed.<\/li>\n<li>Staystitch around the neck and armhole.<\/li>\n<li>Sew the toile with the front as one panel and the back as two panels.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-bottom: 14px;\"><strong>Plan your finishes.<\/strong>\n<ul style=\"margin: 8px 0 0 0; padding-left: 18px;\">\n<li>Finish the armhole and neckline with either a full lining or facings.<\/li>\n<li>Choose seam finishes for the side seams and the hem. Serger finishing is allowed only on seams that are not visible on the inside.<\/li>\n<li>Facings must have a neat finish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sew the Sleeveless Shell<\/strong> in your fashion fabric, using the finishes you chose.
