I was very interested in the dynamic between the sexualized male form, as opposed to the more common female, and the ways it can be subverted or desexualized.

Assignment 1 – (Improvisational Inflatables) Patrick & Miranda https://courses.ideate.cmu.edu/99-361/s2018a/assignment-1-improvisational-inflatables-patrick-miranda/ Wed, 31 Jan 2018 00:07:03 +0000 https://courses.ideate.cmu.edu/99-361/s2018a/?p=177 This project was particularly challenging in the sheer amount of possibilities. Some forms we made were organic, while others were planned out ahead of time. We believe that we found a good balance in displaying both of these sides of assignment as well as a better understanding of how the forms can and take on a new life when breathed into. Overall our biggest strength was in variety as each piece we had to explore new techniques and forms.

Originally, this project seemed simple, but we soon learned that it was far more complicated than taping plastic. Every bend, pleat, corner, and seem demanded its own attention and problem-solving, and we are satisfied with the consideration we put into each one. Overall, the project proved a good way to flex our creative and technical muscles in an unrestricted way.
