For my SISO project I took a ring of LEDs and controlled them using a joystick. Moving the joystick around turns on the LEDs / turns them a different color. The direction you are pointing at with the joystick is represented by a “pointer” (or “painter”) LED of a different color. Pressing on the joystick generates a new random color to paint the LEDs with. The brightness and color of the pointer LED can be adjusted by moving the joystick towards or away from its center.
