Administrative
The course kits are ready. Anyone picking up a kit needs to fill out the IDeATe Kit Form. However, there won’t be any response to the reservation form.
If you selected pickup, you should simply drop by the Bookstore in the CUC lower level, Monday-Friday between 11 and 4pm. No appointment is necessary.
If you selected shipping, IDeATe staff will be responsible for confirming they have actually shipped.
The Art Store Course Kits page now appears somewhat out of date, but includes the store hours.
Q&A: hobby servos, programming technique
Please remember to be posting technical questions on Piazza. Preferably publicly, since many questions are shared, but privately if you wish. Anonymous questions are welcome.
Breakouts: handheld and mechanical games
What’s a favorite low-tech handheld game? This could include both electronic and non-electronic devices. Some examples: Shoot the Moon, Simon, Wooden Labyrinth.
What are the qualities which make it fun for you?
Please consider the game design along a few dimensions:
What aspects of operation are visible or invisible?
What aspects of play require manual dexterity?
What aspects of success involve reasoning or logic?
Which of these properties are essential for the game play?
What aspects of gameplay could you replicate electronically using only the basic components we’ve encountered so far?
After class: office hour time continues for a while.
