Day 9: (Wed Sep 30, Week 5) Multi-Part Assemblies in CAD¶
Notes for 2020-09-30.
New Assignments¶
- New assignment, due in about five days: part 2 of Exercise: Marble Run in Fusion 360.
- Preparation for next class: watch Day 10 videos. The three videos total 74 minutes, but I have indexed them both in the video descriptions and in the Fusion 360 lecture catalog.
Daily Agenda¶
- Administrative: - Who has received or picked up their kit in the last week?

- Q&A
- Breakouts: blind assembly description - each take a minute or two to gather a few small items from your location
- then in turns: - Show your items to your partner.
- Your partner will silently decide on a collage or concretion.
- Dictate a description of the concretion to your partner using the language of joint constraints.
- Attempt to manipulate the parts into a form using only the verbal description.
- If possible, take a photo of the result to share.

- In Fusion 360, a rigid joint between two parts is identified by a point on a face on each part, with the possible addition of a rotational offset. If your parts do not have flat faces, you will need to decide how best to describe a point on each boundary and observe the perpendicular axis at that point.
- Clarification questions are allowed.
- Please keep the description to geometric entities and constraints only, not human language description.

- After class: office hour time continues for a while.
