Rebecca Kim – Marble Run Tile

I designed four tile designs to make my sculptural marble run tile. My goal was to make the marble interact with other components and explore in different directions as it ran down the tiles. The marble starts on the staircase tile and goes down either to a tile with a tunnel or a tile with columns (wooden dowel pins). I created the staircase tile because I wanted to experiment with putting multiple layers together. If they make it to the bottom tile, there is a spinner that acts as a compass, and it will allow the marble to exit if the marble comes down fast enough. I could not find a clevis pin, so the compass spinner is pined with a bolt, which won’t give the same effect as the clevis pin.
