This is our prototype for our marble machine box project.

We were able to demonstrate that the marble can be moved with magnets through two layers of 6mm plywood. We were also able to build the frame of the box in a way that can be scaled up when we move on to making the final version.

Some obstacles we still need to address:

  • The marble can’t be easily moved up a ramp using magnets since the initial bump of the ramp is too much. Solution: try using a ramp that’s less steep and line it with wire to guide the marble.
  • The wheel to transport the marbles has a gap that holds the marbles inside when they should be pushed out when the slot is spun to the top. Solution: try closing the gap somehow by using thinner plywood.
