Exercise: Proof-of-Concept Demonstration

We have defined ‘proof-of-concept’ as the smallest possible demo which supports that the concept will work both artistically and technically. Most projects usually start with one or more unanswered questions, and this demo is the chance to test the most critical of these.

Objectives

After this exercise, you should be able to:

  1. Collaborate with a partner on concept development.

  2. Identify a critical path of engineering unknowns.

  3. Design and fabricate a proof-of-concept prototype.

Deliverables

  1. Live demo of a proof-of-concept prototype in class.

  2. A short report (one per group) posted to the shared drive including:

    1. a short text statement reviewing your intent and outcomes in about a paragraph

    2. a brief video (e.g no more than 60 seconds) of the machine performance

    3. drawings for any CAD parts

    4. any 3D-printing STL model file

    5. any CircuitPython scripts (e.g. code.py file)
