Course Reserves: Motion and Mobility¶
We have additional components in course reserves which are not part of the usual lab stock. These are available on request subject to availability.
For a searchable index of all regular lab parts, please see Physical Computing Lab Inventory.
Motors¶
goBILDA 12V DC Gearmotor with encoder, “Yellow Jacket” series. The series includes a range of gear ratios and several output shafts. We have tested:
goBILDA 5202-2402-0027: 223RPM, 26.9:1 planetary, 6mm D-shaft
goBILDA 5202-2402-0100: 60RPM, 99.5:1 planetary, 6mm D-shaft
Available from ServoCity and RobotShop.
For a more detailed tutorial, please see Robotics for Creative Practice F26 text/mechanism/servomotors.html.
goBILDA 1309-0016-1006, 6mm D-Bore Hub, 1309 Series “Sonic”. Matches our goBILDA gearmotors. Available from ServoCity and RobotShop.
goBILDA 5000-0002-0001, 12V DC Motor with encoder. Ungeared, 1/8” D-shaft. Magnetic encoder is quadrature with a JST XH connector, 3-5VDC. No load speed 5800RPM @ 0.25A, stall torque 1.47 kg-cm @ 9.2A. Mass is 247 grams. Comes with bullet connectors we typically cut off. Manufacturer: Available from ServoCity and RobotShop.
Wheels¶
58mm Plastic Omni Wheel. Includes two hubs, one for a Lego cross axle, one for a shaft with two flats. The rollers allow the wheel to slide sideways, so these are typically used to construct mobile robots with holonomic drive that can move along any planar trajectory. Manufacturer: Nexus Robot. Available from RobotShop.
Pneumatics¶
Air and Vacuum Pump, 2.5 LPM, 4.5 DC Motor, part ZR370-02PM. These pull air from the side port and push it out the end port. The direction of the motor does not matter. They seem to hold pressure against the end port, but not the side port. Sometimes they can be used with a controlled leak to provide the exhaust, but full full/empty control requires a pump to fill, a solenoid valve to control exhaust, and a second pump to empty. Available from Adafruit.
For a more detailed tutorial, please see Robotics for Creative Practice F26 text/mechanism/motor-pump.html.
Pneumatic valve, 5-6V. Acts like a SPDT switch. Available from Adafruit.
