To Infinity And Beyond

Goals:

My goal for the robot is to have the arm repeatedly making an infinity symbol with the tip of the elbow. I decided to make this movement to represent infinity, a concept that I personally find interesting. Using the arm and the infinite motion itself, I was intending it to be similar to the famous French painting The Treachery of Images, the one with a pipe claiming that it is not a pipe. The meta message here is that the arm is that the arm is trying to draw the infinity symbol, but at the same time the motion itself is already a representation of the concept of infinity.

Outcomes

I went through the process of finding the right angle between the arm and the elbow to be able to control the shape of its end vector. I also did some modification to the target to make the two sides of the infinity sign balance out in size.
