The next step in my project proposal is to attempt to make a robot evoke some positive emotion through its body language. I propose that even a robot with strong enough body language will be able to affect the viewers emotional state. I have many options for what emotion to go for. I think laughter may be the easiest to convey, but I’m a little worried that it will look like terror because the robot will be shaking.

My laughing robot will have a trembling body that mimics the shape of a person bent over laughing. I will also add swinging arms that hopefully can add meaningful gesture. There will be a lot of exploration here and I’ll probably revise my idea to fit whatever I manage to accomplish.
