New Assignments

1. New assignment, due Thursday: Project Test Plan

Agenda

1. Discuss the new assignment.

2. Workshop round 1.

   1. Ten minutes: discussion with your new partner to identify a short list of final project ideas.

   2. Ten minutes: five minutes for each group to describe their favorite idea to an adjacent table and answer questions.

3. Full class quick pitches:

   1. Ten minutes: one minute per group to stand up and describe their favorite idea and answer clarifying questions.

4. Workshop round 2.

   1. Ten minutes: brainstorm a specific physical implementation with your partner. Please try to answer:

      • What is the appearance of the suitcase?

      • What are the kinetic elements?

      • What kind of movements are required?

      • How many degrees of freedom? How fast or slow?

      • How does it constitute surprisingly animate behavior?

      • What kind of sensors are required?

   2. Ten minutes: five minutes per pair to explain their implementation to a different table and answer questions.

5. Full class technical discussion:

   1. Ten minutes: one minute per group to describe their most significant technical challenge and answer clarifying questions.

6. Workshop round 3:

   1. Ten minutes: brainstorm a critical path test with your partner. Please try to answer:

      • What is the most unresolved creative questions?

      • What is the most unresolved element of the implementation?

      • Is there a simulation test which would help resolve these?

      • What is the simplest physical test which would reveal answers or new questions?

7. Full class critical path discussion:

   1. Ten minutes: one minute per pair to describe a proof-of-concept experiment and answer questions.
