For our suitcase robot, we decided to have a ballroom dance of sorts, but with the main actors cast as shadows instead of real beings. When the spotlight moves to shine on the dancing figures, they spin faster, and when they aren’t being shown, they slow down. We initially wanted to put abstract figures in the place of the cylinders, but it was a bit too complicated for Webots to handle, so we ended up substituting them with cylinders instead. For the actual model next week, we’ll be using more interesting shapes. Webots also has trouble calculating shadows for intersecting lights, so we suspect the real product will be more interesting in that aspect as well.
