Exercise: Proof-of-Concept

We will define ‘proof-of-concept’ as the smallest possible demo which supports that the concept will work both artistically and technically. Most projects usually start with one or more unanswered questions, and this demo is the chance to test the most critical of these. Please be sure to include some aspect of human performance within the demonstration.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify the key elements of a performance machine necessary to to show the main idea will work.

  2. Design and fabricate a proof-of-concept prototype.

  3. Practice and document a brief human-machine hybrid performance.

Deliverables

Please include the following in a blog post on the RCP project site:

  1. Short video (less than one minute) posted to the blog.

  2. Live demo of a partial machine prototype in class (as feasible).
