Delta Robots

A delta robot is a type of 3-DOF parallel-drive manipulator with three linkage arms connecting a fixing base to a moving gripper. The rotary motors are located in the base so the gripper system can be low-mass and move very fast. They are commonly used for high-speed pick and place operations in factories.

A related structure is the delta-style 3D printer which uses three vertical translating joints and linkages to move the 3D printing head.
