Administrative

If you need 3D printing for the next assignment, you may submit parts via the current RCP-F23 - General queue. Please also email me so I know to look for it. I’d be happy to answer any questions about using the system, it hasn’t been part of the course yet.

Agenda

The main objective for today is to resolve a broad plan for the shared performance system to construct in HL A11. Questions to resolve include:

  • overall visual form

  • movement vocabulary or gestural catalog

  • overall size and scale

  • overall sensing and interaction approach

  • approximate number of actuators

  • approximate number of unactuated freedoms

  • estimated number and type of lighting fixtures or elements

  • essential technical unknowns

We’ll proceed in several phases:

  1. overview

  2. resynthesis

    • breakout into two table sketch groups to generate hybrid ideas

    • the key is merging compatible concepts, not just mashing together forms

  3. resolution

    • review of hybrid ideas

    • quick feasibility evaluations

    • all-class negotiation of overall form
