I first wanted to do a irregular(non-linear) gathering with the two line mechanism that can control contracting and relaxing, but I wasn’t able to make relaxing work. So I went back to the linear gathering and I used two independent two line mechanisms with one longer than the other . After I hanged it up vertically, I noticed that instead of pulling two ends, only one end needs to be pulled to achieve the desired movement, therefore instead of four controls for every two line, only two controls are needed.

The intended effect is similar to the effect of hand pupating shown in video but I could not find the write specifications for the capstan to have it work correctly. I then just played with the pressure pad to see what was possible. After playing with it for a while, at the end of the video, the motions were very similar to the intended the effect with pressure pad manipulations completely different from how I thought it should be.
