I attempted to create a dichotomy between two materials – sand and silk. I attempted to manipulate the movement of silk with the fluid motions of the sand as gravity acted on it. The fluid motion of both fabrics is expressed in different ways, the controlled silk and the free form movement of sand.

I would like to continue working with these two materials to see how the motions of the silk can affect the fall of the sand. One thing that I would like to explore more is the sound of the sand hitting the fabric.

The setup took a surprisingly long amount of time. I think it would be useful to use more than one hour, two hours would probably be just enough time for setup and experimentation of movement. I found that coming up with the idea and setting up the area left me with only about 10 minutes to work with the drum pad.
