At the beginning of my brainstorming, I was initially inspired by my blue marbled shibori piece that looked like a little sea creature which I could just imagine hiding in a dark rock. After successfully developing that interaction, I found myself wanting to add more movement to complete the scene, which resulted in me accidentally having an orange creature come and block the initial view instead of being a background piece. I started to enjoy and play with that interaction, where the viewer is initially focused on an interesting center piece that doesn’t end up being the actuated piece after all. With some interesting rigging, I was able to only use one capstan but still get some horizontal and vertical rigging on the sea creatures, I think I ended up with a silly but fun result.
