I took Olivia’s advice from my last project and decided to expand upon it using pipe cleaners as an extension of the hobby servo unit. I created a palm tree, added a cute little monkey friend, and tied beads that represented coconuts to the leaves, so when the unit was activated it looked like the monkey was throwing coconuts out of the tree!

I connected the servo unit to my soft sensor button I had made from the previous class and the microcontroller. Garth helped me tweak the code so when I pushed my soft sensor button it made the palm tree spin faster in the opposite direction, causing the coconuts to spin around faster. It provided an interesting contrast to when the coconuts would stay stagnant versus when they would spin through the air.

Overall I had a fun time expanding upon my last project and giving it some personality! I can totally see this being used to brighten up my bookshelf of knick knacks or as a little decoration on my desk. 🐒
