As I continued working on the project, I got the motor pump working successfully and made a sample of the vest. I decided I wanted to create one big vacuum instead of attaching a lot of mini panels together. Here is a time lapse of the air filling my inflatable:
Really cool. And so much easier than manually pumping air.

Very reminiscent of a life-vest.
For the next vest, I’m going to make the vest longer so it covers more of the body. I need to figure out how to create “darts” in the vinyl, like soldered lines and designs that create folds and allow the vest to hug the human figure more naturally. I tried that for one of my prototypes using a ( ) design but the air could not really travel through.
