Description of how the child will interact with the toy

Art bot is a toy that creates artistic patterns using a vibrating motor that moves the spider-like robot around. The child can interact with the toy by changing what color markers, crayons, chalk, or any other writing utensil that are acting as the robots legs. The child can also change the mass that is rotating, or how far that mass is from the fulcrum.

Principle my toy is based on

The toy is based on a few physical principles to name a few:

  • Conservation of angular momentum
  • Center of gravity
  • Vibrations
  • Robot locomotion
  • Forward & Inverse Kinematics

Construction of the toy

The chassis of the robot will be made out of mostly laser-cut acrylic and some 3d-printed parts. Three micro-servo will be used to actuate the writing utensils. A cheap dc motor, with a shaft with cut out holes will be acting as the vibrating mechanism. Easily accessible triple A batteries, and an arduino to control the servo motors.
