Description of how the child will interact with the toy

The child will interact with the toy by using a spring loaded launcher to shoot at three basketball hoops at various locations. The basketball hoops are moving, and as the child progress the basketball hoops will move faster, and thus progressively making the game more and more difficult.

Principle my toy is based on

The toy is based on a few physical principles such as:

  • Spring forces
  • 3-dimensional kinematics
  • Energy conservation

Construction of the toy

The base of the toy will be construction out of laser-cut acrylic and 3d-printed parts for fast construction. We will have to buy a spring, possibly from McMaster-Carr. The basketball courts will rotate with a micro servo motor, rotating around the yaw-axis. Scoring can be measured using an IR-sensor or ultrasonic sensor.
