BALLERINA GYROSCOPE

  • Principles: Angular momentum
  • Interaction: A wind-up key, once inserted and quickly pulled out of the ballerina, causes a wheel inside her to spin. This allows her to be placed on a stand (sold separately) where she remains balanced on her toes. She can also, with some creativity, be balanced on strings, on forks, etc.
  • Construction: She contains a few parts inside that allow the key to turn the wheel hidden inside her (under her skirt). She could appear to be one solid piece (maybe made of plastic), with the wheel and the mechanisms hidden inside her, or she could just be a more typical gyroscope with a skirt and a pretty face.
  • Durability: Parts of her might break off. Her arms look pretty delicate.
  • Safety: I would keep this lovely dancer far away from small children who might try to swallow the wind-up key or poke themselves with her slender leg.
