PIPES

  • Principles: gravity, modularity
  • Interaction: Connect pipes by locking them together. Not sure if they snap together or screw together. They’re transparent so that what’s inside them can be seen, and they’re also watertight. They can be used to make a kind of rollercoaster for marbles.
  • Construction: Plastic pipes, transparent and injection-molded. Alternatively, 3D-printed pipes, not transparent, with organic shapes and a mesh-like structure to allow players to see inside.
  • Durability: Made of plastic, should be reasonably durable. The variation with more organic shapes and small holes may be more fragile (because of the small holes).
  • Safety: The pipes are too big to swallow, but a child with small hands could get an arm stuck inside them and risk injury. Additionally, the small holes in the mesh-like variant might trigger tryptophobia.
