Pit Stop

Pit Stop

Image shows an RC racecar with wheels that are removable using a plastic wrench.
Who’s the fastest?
  • This toy teaches coordination and strategy
  • The child can drive this car like any other radio-controlled car.  It has removable wheels held on by a large plastic nut and comes with a wrench for removing the wheels. As the child drives the car, an LED turns from green to yellow to red to indicate the “tire condition.” When the tires are in poor condition (red light), the car drives slower until the wheels are all replaced. Multiple children can race each other in pairs, with one driver and one “pit crew” per car.
  • The car will be made of plastic and will contain an Arduino, a servo for steering the front wheels, a motor for driving the rear wheels, and an antenna (or some other wireless communication method) for the remote control. The nuts holding the wheels may be choking hazards, so the toy should not be used by children younger than 3.
