Toy Report – Food Thrower

Team Members: Nick Laikhram, Jeffrey Luo, Linda Lin

Our toy is a food launcher that allows the players to feed their friends in a fun and engaging way for both parties. We based our design on a basic catapult, and adjusted different parts to make a trajectory that would be appropriate for its purpose.

We divided our toy into two parts – stationary and moving. The stationary part consisted of a base plate and a frame with an elastic band stretched in between. The moving part included an arm with a bowl at the end, two axels, four wheels, and eight stoppers (two for each wheel). All the parts were designed in Solidworks and made using the laser cutter. The base plate was assembled using press fit, while all the others were glued together. Since the bowl couldn’t be made with a laser cutter, we made separate shapes that would form a similar shape.
