“Roman Tragedies” Dir. Ivo Van Hove (2012)
Ivo Van Hove’s “Roman Tragedies” is a six-hour epic consisting of three plays performed back to back and updated to the era of the 24-hour news cycle. “Political life is a non-stop event,” says Van Hove. “Decisions that change your life for the rest of your life are made while you’re asleep, while you’re not aware. That’s what this is about.” The audience may move freely around the performance space, use stationary computers to post comments on the action, and even buy a drink at the bar on stage. In addition, they are encouraged to use their phones to take pictures of the performance and share them on social media. YouTube / toneelgroepamsterdam – via Iframely |
