A live cinema performance adapted from Chekhov’s first full-length play. The performance a a live play and a live feature film. The performance took place at The Kitchen in NYC and simulcast to the AMC Empire Cinema in Times Square and BAM Rose Cinemas. From the NYT review:

Formerly, Mr. Scheib said, the video was there to enhance the live performance, “to amplify the real, the live, the source.” But this project reverses that relationship, as Mr. Scheib describes the live performance as little more than a pretext for the movie. “Now I’m privileging film over theater,” he said.

Also a fan of Jay Scheib’s other works, including a simulation of a Mars mission in the desert of Utah.
