Assignment 3 – Chloe and Elijah

For this assignment, we worked with the same partner to create inflatables based on the stuffed animal we created in last assignment. At first, it was challenging to find a way to display texture of our stuffed animal onto the inflatable because the inflatable material was smooth and did not have much texture to it. However, we added some of leftover threads on the ears which added more fun and engagement to our inflatable. We focused more on how to communicate the characteristics of our stuffed animal into the inflatables.

Since it was our first time to sew ripstop nylon, it took time to getting used to the thin texture of the material. However, we got fast as we practiced sewing machine and it was actually fun to use the sewing machine with this material. What we have done differently would be maybe experimenting more with is playing more with the placement of the threads and amount of usage.
