Final Project Sketch – Sensing People

Group Members: Brian Yang and Luke Hottinger IntroductionOne major problem faced in the world of physical computing and intelligent environments is the fact the most environments are not intelligent. We attempt to sense and interact with rooms and objects that are not able to think for themselves. We try and get around this by using a wide swath of external sensing to do most of the legwork. Our project involves the use of external sensors to track people’s locations within a room and try to extract information from their positions. Our case study will utilize a Microsoft Kinect to track people’s positions in a computer cluster to create a list of available computers. This will involve the use of one Kinect to map the room and will use machine learning to understand which seats/positions represent which computer. Sketch
