One realization I had while visiting the Children’s School that really stuck with me was how much collaboration engaged the children. Through the entire first hour that we sat in with the three-year-old children the only thing that engaged them for more than a few seconds was when they were all playing with tissues together. Similarly, I saw further collaboration when we were outside with the children. At one point the children started playing with an exercise ball that was out in the grass. For the next ten minutes, the children crowded around this ball pushing it back and forth, negotiating what to do with it, attempting to push it over an obstacle, etc.
