Algobrix is a new toy currently in development that teaches kids how to code. It uses Lego compatible blocks that can arranged to control motors, turn on LEDs, and play audio. It offers children the opportunity to learn real coding principles in a fun and tangible manner.
In today’s increasingly computer-dependent world, computer programming skills are becoming more and more important. Algobrix seeks to introduce programming concepts to kids at an early age as well as instill in them an ability to think both logically and creatively.
Algobrix meshes well with the themes of this course. The toy takes in block arrangements and button presses to create a computational procedure that in turn drives a robot. Each new physical combination of function and parameter blocks creates a different behavior in the Algobot.
At the same time, it strikes a perfect balance between the digital and the physical, taking the form of a very child-friendly toy while still presenting children with enough computing complexity that they will have fun and learn while exploring the near infinite possibilities.
