The observation took place at the Children’s School. We were observing students between the ages of 3 and 5. There were between 7 and 15 students per group. With roughly 1 teacher per 5-7 students.
New activities often caught the children attention. They enjoyed running, playing with different objects, and finding things to do together. There were few things that really held childrens’ attention for more than a few minutes. This was especially true in the younger second language group, where each page of a book seemed to catch there attention. Often complicated games would not hold there attention, as well as repetitive tasks.
For most activities, children enjoyed being in charge and being able to manage themselves. They enjoyed “free time” the most, being able to pick and choose what they wanted to interact with. I beleive that the key takeaways for my project is that it needs to be a responsive and attention grabbing device that has a high level of interactivity.
