For the course project, I propose the the Dinner Partner robot that I previously brought up. This post will go into how I have expanded my idea and how the experience will work.
Dinner Partner
This experience involves the performer sitting down at a table for a meal while the observer is a 3rd party, viewing the experience form an outside perspective.
Here are some ideas I had for the automated, or actuated parts that make the performance a hybrid human, robot performance. I envision that the system would have automated movements when idle and actuated/ programed responses to what the human performer does.
The artistic premise is to be a commentary on how we always need something to occupy us when we are alone, whether that be our phones, someone else or even an imaginary friend. It can also portray loneliness in a creative way that is mysterious and eerie.
