For this project I attempted to actuate the idea that I had come up with in class of semi rigid pieces of material swaying back and forth with loose flowing fabric attached in between. I ended up using a thick piano wire to make the bones of the piece. These were then sandwiched between two dowels to fix them in space, but maintain a significant range of motion. This worked well for the most part, but I did run into issues with the weight of the fabric as it was amplified by the length of the piano wire pieces. I decided not to shorten the piano wire however because the length allowed for more interesting, unpredictable movements.
